Shave and A Haircut…

April 28th, 2008

For those of you who missed out on seeing the big St. Baldricks event a few weeks ago, the good folks over at 13 news posted a story on the event as well as a classic picture of myself under the blades! To view it go to www.wibw.com and search for “Balding for a Cause” posted on April 12.

A Plug Bug

April 1st, 2008

I wanted to put a quick plug in for 2 of my favorite singer/songwriters who have things going on in the next two months. 1) Derek Webb has a new EP coming out at the end of the month (his first project with his equally amazing singer/songwriter wife Sandra McCracken). His music has been a gormet meal for my soul recently - so check out what he is doing now or any of the albums he has put out in the last 5 years 2) Josh Ritter is coming to town! For all of you in the Northeast Kansas area - please run (don’t walk, skip or trot) to get tix to the show in Lawrence on May 11. Satisfaction is guaranteed! I promise!

As for me, I’ll be putting together a show for the end of April with good friend Miguel Caraballo. Watch the website for details - Kyle

The Beard Bids Farewell… (or A Cause To Celebrate Part II)

March 28th, 2008

In a few weeks my favorite coffeehouse (World Cup Espresso Cafe) is going to be hosting a benefit for kids with cancer. The organization behind it is named St. Baldricks. People raise money for the cause (while also showing solidarity with the kids affected by cancer) by volunteering to shave their heads. So that being said, I’d like to let it be known that I will be shaving it down on April 12th! As an added bonus - the beard I’ve been collecting for the past 6 months is going too! If nothing else, the beard has got to bring some dollars in for this worthy cause. Here is the website where you can donate in my name (and in my beard’s name). You can also see a pic of the current status of my beard (taken just one week ago). If you are in the Topeka area you can stop by World Cup (21st and Washburn) and grab a latte and give to St. Baldricks. Word on the street is that Don (the owner of World Cup as well as my boss) will be shaving his head if we can raise $1000… sounds like a challenge to me… anyone up for that? Thanks for giving! - Kyle

A Cause To Celebrate

March 28th, 2008

A good buddy of mine from high school named Andy Woolard is doing some amazing things with an organization that he created called “Interwoven Threads.” The basic concept is you buy a T-Shirt and a T-Shirt gets donated to people who need them. Pretty simple huh? So if you are on the lookout for a new t-shirt (or just on the lookout to do some good today) stop by this website and check it out. Hopefully, the the future we will try and get the next Kyle Moreland release to be connected with Interwoven Threads! I should probably ask him about that before I go making promises… Stay tuned to hear what we come up with! - Kyle

Christmas Comes But Once A Year?

March 28th, 2008

Hey gang… exciting stuff is happening! We are getting ready to go back into the studio SOON! I am going to be posting updates from the studio but for now let me tell you the plans — we are going to be recording a Christmas album (to supplement all the fun we’ve had at the past two years at the Christmas shows!) It will be a full length album and will feature 6 or 7 brand new songs as well as several classics that have been tweaked in that special Kyle Moreland way… we are set to begin during the second week of April and we shall go from there! I’ll keep you up to date with everything going on - Merry Christmas to you a bit early this year! - Kyle
