8. Age Old Question

Got the age old question once again / Talking to an old friend / “What do you think you want to do / When you get through / With a few grand out of hand and / Twenty years of school?” / Can I tell the truth I thought you knew / I don’t have a clue

But I’ve been trying to see / How this all pertains to me / I find my mind cannot perceive / Why my future seems so vague / And each road holds my best mistake / I find it’s easy to believe

I think I saw life as it was passing me by / When I tried to close my eyes / I’ll stay up all night just trying to find / A few new ways to fill my days in the meantime / Until I die

There’s no more schemin’ no more dreamin’ / This ain’t no fairy tale you see here boy / This is real life you’re drownin’ in tonight / So choose the road that you want to go / Make it your own and pave it with gold / Try and make some dough so you don’t come crawling home / All alone say no no

I think I saw life as it was passing me by / When I tried to close my eyes / I’ll stay up all night just trying to find / A few new ways to fill my days in the meantime / Until I die

But you lay me down / Get my insides all unwound / You speak the words / I thought I heard / So long ago / When my life felt sure / And I know you said, / “Close your eyes feel the life come alive inside tonight”
